সাদা বাঘ। বিরল প্রজাতির বাঘ। দেশের অন্য কোনও স্থানে বা চিড়িয়াখানায় এ প্রজাতির সাদা বাঘ আছে কি না জানা নেই। তবে শ্রীমঙ্গল শহরের রামকৃষ্ণ মিশন রোডস্থ প্রাণী ও পরিবেশবিদ সিতেশ দেব’র মিনি চিড়িয়াখানায় বিরল এ সাদা বাঘটি আপনি দেখতে পাবেন। আজ থেকে প্রায় ২ বছর আগে ৬ মাস বয়সী এ সাদা বাঘটি শ্রীমঙ্গলের হাইল হাওরে জেলেদের জালে ধরা পড়ে। সিতেশ দেব খবর পেয়ে সাদা বাঘটি সংগ্রহ করে তার মিনি চিড়িয়াখানায় নিয়ে আসেন।

বর্তমানে সাদা বাঘটি লম্বায় ৪ ফুট, উচ্চতা আড়াই ফুট এবং ওজন ৩৫ কেজি। অত্যন্ত হিংস্র এ সাদা বাঘটি মাংস ছাড়া অন্য কোনও খাবার গ্রহণ করে না। প্রতিদিন বাঘটি দেড় কেজি মুরগির মাংস খেয়ে থাকে। এ বাঘের সবচে’ আশ্চর্য বৈশিষ্ট্য হচ্ছে· প্রতি মুহূর্তে এর চোখের রঙ বদলায়। কিছুক্ষণ পর পর এর চোখ লাল, হলুদ, সাদা ও কমলা রঙ ধারণ করে।

সাদা বাঘটি দেখতে এখানে প্রতিদিন প্রচুর দর্শনার্থীর ভিড় জমে। ড. মো. আলী রেজা খানের ‘বাংলাদেশের বন্যপ্রাণী’ ও ‘দ্য বুক অব ইন্ডিয়ান এনিমেল’সহ বেশ কিছু প্রাণীবিষয়ক বই খোঁজাখুঁজি করেও সাদা বাঘ সম্পর্কে কোনও তথ্য পাওয়া যায়নি।

Its very important that someone we have such a kind of rear animal and it should take care properly. I saw white tiger at ALIGHAR ZOO,Calcutta in India. But those were very long in size.Cant remember from where they collect those tigers in India.

I beleive such a beautiful white tiger should be left in the wild. It's very harmful to leave this reare species on it's own, and then die one day. It should get chance to live in it's natural habitat and possiblely able to reproduce.

It is very interesting. as per i know, white tiger is very rear animal in the world. how can it come to srimongal? We are see the White Tiger in Mani Zoo on shetiesh babu at 06 June 2008. Why a white tiger/cat is caged? The race will be depleting from its nature. We should follow the wild protection laws and spread more information of preserving the wild life in the natural environment; not take them in a mini zoo for enjoying; I think that Nisargha Nature could work to release it in the nature and help to increase the race for future generation. Thanks

Its quite amazing that white tiger is found in Bangladesh. Definitely we are proud of finding such rare animal in Srimangal. Most striking thing about the tiger is that the tiger can change his eye's color whenever required. Thats a really very very interesting news.

বাংলাদেশে সাদা বাঘ সত্যি বিস্ময়কর। ইংরেজীতে একে বলে Albino tiger. যেকোন প্রাণী Albino হতে পারে। তেলাপোকা থেকে মানুষ পর্যন্ত। দেখবেন অনেক ইটের পাঁজা বা রান্নাঘরের অনেক পোকার মধ্যে একটা বা দুইটা সাদা। সেইগুলো Albino. আবার অনেক গ্রামে কোন ছেলে বা মেয়ে বিদেশীদের মত ফর্সা/সাদা (মাথার চুল, গায়ের পশম সব সাদা)। তারাও Albino. তবে Albino প্রাণীরা চোখে কম দেখে। ঘন ঘন রোগে ভোগে।
